Season 4, Episode 21: Christine Shakespeare

Christine Shakespeare, vice provost for policy & program coordinator, shares her family’s background in higher education, including her father, who served as a professor and administrator at Hofstra for 30 years. “Our family was very involved in the lives of students,” she said. She reflected on her career in and out of academia, which included working for the Governor’s Office of Volunteerism in Texas, where she helped launch a statewide initaitve supporting community engagement in higher education. She also discussed the development of Թ 11, which helps students capture and convey the competencies they build as Թs that are essential to long-term success. In addition, she talked about her role as co-chair of the University’s Commencement Committee and the community-wide involvement it takes to host Commencement on campus. “We all do it together,” she said. “It gives everyone a sense of pride. This is a moment the University has to showcase itself.”
