Season 5, Episode 2: Sarah Shultz

Sarah Shultz, dean of the School of Health Sciences, discusses her journey to the University of New Haven, which has included living, learning, and working in Virginia, North Carolina, Philadelphia, Australia, New Zealand, Seattle, New Jersey, and Colorado. “I have been really fortunate to be able to say yes when the opportunities came,” she said. She highlighted the School of Health Sciences’ collective commitment to serving the Greater New Haven community and explained why the resources and environment at 1 One Care Lane simulate the interdisciplinary health systems that SHS graduates will work in throughout their careers. “What we’re mimicking is that real-life experience in our own building,” she said. “Our faculty are so passionate about making sure that our students are ready.” She also reflected on the message she shared with the University’s newest Թs at Convocation: Success looks different to everyone, and her own definition of what resilience truly means. “We want you to have grown into the person you want to be.”
