University of New Haven Acquires Railroad Salvage Building and Land Adjacent to Main Campus
The 130,000 square-foot-building and 12-acre lot will be reimagined to create a pioneering Research and Development Center.

Erickah Montgomery ’20, a marketing major, has been recognized for her efforts to promote diversity and inclusion on campus.

As president of the University of New Haven’s Caribbean Student Association, Erickah Montgomery ’20 helps the organization bring students together while sharing her Caribbean culture with her classmates.
"The Caribbean Student Association has helped me meet so many people," said Montgomery, a marketing major. "I’ve made great connections and learned about myself and how I can enrich the campus and the communities I am a part of."

An active member of the Black Student Union, the University’s NAACP chapter, and the Myatt Center for Diversity and Inclusion, Montgomery was recognized for her dedication to promoting inclusion on campus. She received the Myatt Center for Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship, which is awarded to undergraduate students enrolled in the University’s College of Business who are active in the work of the Myatt Center.
"I am extremely grateful for this, because it will help fund my education through graduate school," said Montgomery. "It also takes a lot of stress off me and my family because I can focus on my academics. I aim to be successful in all I do, and this scholarship will help me reach my goals."
She’s been an intern in the New Haven office of , one of the largest independent public accounting and advisory services firms in the nation, since last spring. Her work focuses on assurance, audit, and taxation. She has also gained experience reviewing expense reports and organizing information for managers and clients.
"The University of New Haven has given me great opportunities to prepare for real-world situations," said Montgomery. "I was able to get this internship opportunity and feel prepared for it, and I credit my instructors and the University for that."
