Tuition Benefits Supporting the City of West Haven

We’re excited to strengthen our relationship with the City of West Haven by offering significant tuition discounts beginning in Fall 2025 to city employees, first responders, and high school graduates from the city.

At our core, we believe education has the power to make the world a better place, and we’re thrilled to expand these benefits to support even more individuals in our host community.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

All of the following are effective beginning with the Fall 2025 semester.

50% Tuition Scholarship for graduating high school students from West Haven

Students who have resided in West Haven for at least two years, who have graduated from high school, and who matriculate to the University of New Haven the year they graduate high school or that have received an associate's degree from Gateway Community College.

*This benefit will also be available to West Haven residents who graduated from West Haven High School in 2024 or early 2025 and wish to transfer to the University of New Haven from another institution.

100% Tuition Discount for City of West Haven public safety personnel

Available to current City of West Haven sworn officers, fire personnel, 911 dispatchers, EMTs, and paramedics, with six months of service in the city.

50% Tuition Discount for all other City of West Haven employees

Don't work in public safety? No problem. This benefit is available to all non-public safety employees of the City of West Haven, with six months of service in the city.

Students must meet criteria for admission in order to be admitted to the University and be eligible for these benefits. Each admitted student is eligible for a maximum of one merit scholarship, and these tuition benefits cannot be combined with other merit scholarships.

WHICH ACADEMIC PROGRAMS QUALIFY?

Almost all of the academic programs we offer qualify for this tuition benefit program.

The scholarships listed on this page are available for undergraduate and master's degree programs, except special programs provided through an outside partner. All doctoral programs are also excluded.
